What is ICAR?
ICAR is an acronym for the Indian Council of Agriculture and Research. Headquartered in Delhi, the body has affiliations with top universities for agriculture in the country. ICAR has about 75 affiliated agriculture universities throughout India, of which 64 are State Agriculture, Veterinary, Horticulture, and Fisheries Universities.
Likewise, ICAR also has three Central Agricultural Universities, each in Imphal, Pusa, and Jhansi. It has five Deemed and four Central Universities, including BHU, AMU, Viswa Bharati, and Nagaland University.
The Exam
ICAR is a national-level, computer-based exam consisting of 120 marks where you will lose a quarter mark for every wrong answer.
Eligibility
To qualify for the ICAR exam, a candidate must be at least 20 years old. Note that there is no age relaxation under any category. Also, the successful candidate has completed at least a three-year bachelor’s degree program from a recognized college or university in any of the prevalent disciplines.
If you have completed a Master’s degree, then you must have secured at least 60% of marks if you are from the General category and 50% if you are from the reserved category.
The Courses
When it comes to the UG exam, you have two sections, A and B. While Section A is Agriculture or Biology, Section B is Mathematics.
