It is a document that allows you to move permanently to the US and remain there permanently. The Green Card program allows you to move to any state in the US, work, earn income, and settle down with your family.
How Do You Get A Green Card In The Us?
Different types of US Green Cards are available depending on your situation and how you will obtain it. Green Cards are basically divided into four categories, each with a specific visa and set of requirements:
- Green Cards sponsored by relatives – these Green Cards are given to you if you have close relatives in the United States and would like to reunite with them. - This Green Card is for those who previously held a Green Card but travelled outside the US but did not return for more than a year for reasons beyond their control. If you have been detained in another country or have been prohibited from returning due to family or cultural reasons, these factors are beyond your control. In order to receive this visa, you must prove that you had no opportunity to return through various documents.
Is It Possible For Me To Apply For A Green Card?
You must fulfill various requirements regardless of which USA Green Card you choose to apply for. There are certain requirements for each of the US immigration visas that you must meet, but there are also a few that you must have for each visa, as detailed below:
- A Green Card must be applied for from a foreign country – most people seeking one must apply from their home country. Additionally, you must meet other requirements if you live in the US.
- A dual intent visa allows you to enter the U.S. temporarily and then apply for a Green Card after a set period of time. The H-1B visa is an example of a dual intent visa.
- If you are applying for a family-based Green Card, you must have a family in the US. Your family member may be either your fiancé/spouse, your child, your sibling, or your biological or adoptive parents. Applicants must have a family member who is a US citizen or permanent resident willing to sponsor their applications. Moreover, the family member must provide financial support for the first few months after you move to the US, until you find a job.
