As you know, a recruiter wants to hire candidates who could meet their requirements and have all the skills mentioned in job description. Resume is reflection of your personality and it’s critical to send all the positive vibes.

It’s very important to find what skills are required for a particular job as you should build  a resume keeping that in your mind. Followings are keys to remember before you start writing your resume.

  1. Research – You must research about the job description and make sure to include all the important keywords into your resume. It will significantly boost your chance for an interview call.
  2. Introduction – Set your tone clear and professional. You are selling your relevant skills, knowledge, experience, and skills.
  3. Resume template – Your resume needs to quickly communicate your value. Use a nice font, defined sections, and layout. There are so many nice free templates available for download and make sure to pick one that you like.
  4. Show your qualifications – List your education and qualifications at the end of your Resume. If you are fresher without job experience you can keep this at the top.
  5. Keep your hobbies interesting based on your job profile.
  6. Make sure to check Grammar.
  7. Number of pages: You should keep your resume short and crisp. Try not to exceed 2 pages, usually recruiter has to deal with thousand of resume and they can’t scan multiple pages.

A resume should contain below points to give it an introduction for you.

Step 1: Header of resume must contain Name, Contact number (with alternative contact number), Email ID and current Address.

Step 2: A two line objective and professional summary consisting of 5–6 bullet points covering your skills, technical expertise and onsite opportunities can be mentioned.

Step 3: Professional Experience in chronological order with your designation, duration with year and company name.

Step 4: SkillSet (mention first your best one, then better and last will be where you are not that good)

Step 5: Projects Description (Project Name, Client Name, Project Description (1–2 lines), Technologies/Tools Used, Responsibilities, Team Size, Duration)

Step 6: Education Details (Chronological Order : Highest Degree, 12th, 10th)
Mention Name of College, University, Year of passing and percentage or CGPA.

Step 7: Hobbies, Awards, Achievements, Internship, Certification, Volunteering Work can be described in few 6–7 points.

*Avoid irrelevant accolades and try to keep it short*

Step 8: Personal Details
Father’s and Mother’s Name, DOB, Gender (Avoid usage of word “Sex” here), Alternate phone number, Permanent Address, Marital Status.

Step 9: Mail the CV in PDF format rather than Word format.
It looks clean and attractive. At many instances, the Word version doesn’t support but the PDF is always reliable.

Mention the subject line as : Name_Position Applied for_Years of Experience as John Sena_Java Developer_4 yrs and name the CV in the same format of subject line.
